WPFC.com Reporters
WPFC players, parents, and fans we need your help! A club as large and successful as ours makes it difficult sometimes to keep track of all the things happening with each and every team. We do our best but with your help we can do even better. Please feel free to submit pictures and write-ups of happenings whether on or off the pitch to our Webmaster.

Susan G Komen 3-day Race for a Cure
Here’s another community service idea and need. The Susan G Komen 3-day Race for a Cure is being held Sept 11-13 in the greater Seattle area. They still have needs for volunteers in many aspects of the race. Go to www.the3day.org and click on "get involved" and then "crew/volunteers" to see how you can participate.
Dragon Boat Festival
Greetings Members,
Here is another opportunity for WPFC to show our commitment to support our local communities. Our teams have a chance to volunteer at the Seattle Celebrating Life! Dragon Boat Festival held on Saturday and Sunday, August 22-23rd at Magnuson Park in Seattle.
This year’s race is sponsored by Team Survivor Northwest (TSNW), a non-profit organization supporting women in their cancer recovery through fitness and health education .
TSNW is collaborating with Pacific Dragon Boat Association (PDBA) and local dragon boaters to host Seattle Celebrating Life! Dragon Boat Festival. This Festival includes a one-day community race and PDBA qualifying races for the World Club Crew Championships in Macau.
There are many different needs for volunteers. The teams could help with marshalling - organizing paddles and pdfs (life vests) before, after and between races - basically making sure everyone has one who needs one... older teams (14-18) could help on the dock, helping paddlers in/out of their boats etc if they are comfortable by the water (can swim) and are outgoing enough to talk to adults... help is also needed on the grounds/recycling team - volunteers assigned to this job last year described it as: "work a little, and then go see a lot at the race"
If your team is interested in volunteering please contact Therese Chambers, the Volunteer Coordinator at (425) 761-4067
Relay For Life
Greetings Members,
As part of our new relationship with Athena, we will be presenting our membership with opportunities throughout the year to volunteer at various events that support cancer awareness. By supporting these types of community events, WPFC has been able to secure $5,000 in scholarship monies to be awarded to 2010 high school WPFC seniors that best emulate Community Service and Involvement, Academic Prowess and Athletic Achievement and Sportsmanship.
Here is one of those opportunities. Relay for Life of Sumner- Bonney Lake is in need of volunteers. Relay for Life of Sumner - Bonney Lake is on August 7th and 8th..opening ceremonies is at 6pm and closing at noon on Saturday.
They are also still welcoming new teams to be formed and are looking for Cancer Survivors to register and join them for the Survivor Ceremony. www.relayforlifeofsumnerbonneylake.org
They have needs for many volunteers. They need help with set up, during the event, and clean up. Please consider this event as part of your teams community service efforts. If you have further questions, you can contact them directly by going to their website.
