’95 Black Fischer Gallinger

(June 20, 2010) - After attending the Region IV ODP camp in Linfield, Or., Fischer was invited to attend the U-14 National ID camp in Concord, Massachusetts in August. In November 2009, the U-14 National team held their first event in Orlando, Florida at the Wide World of Disney Sports Complex. The team trained the first part of the week and then took part in the Interregional Tournament being played there, and played 3 of the 4 regional ODP teams from around the country and concluded with both National Navy and Red teams playing each other.

Region IV President’s Cup June 16-20, 2010

(June 10, 2010) - WPFC ’96 White under the direction of Head Coach Abdella Hussen will be attending the Region IV President’s Cup June 16-20, 2010 in Medford, Oregon.  The team has been placed in flight A and will face their state champion counterparts from Utah, Oregon, and Southern California. The team has been preparing via training and scrimmages which the team is currently undefeated beating Crossfire 4-1 and HPFC ’96 Blue 4-3, and Seattle United ’96 - Copa 2-0. 

GU-19 Black dominate from beginning to end
Earning WPFC its second state championship

(June 6, 2010) - WPFC girls ’91 Black shutout North West United ’90 12-0 in the GU19 USYS Washington Championship earning WPFC, its second state title for the 2009-2010 season. The ladies completely dominated the state tournament with 31 GF with only 1 GA. The ladies will represent Washington State at the US Youth Soccer 2010 Far West Regionals later this month in Albuquerque, New Mexico June 21-27, 2010.

(May 29, 2010) - GU-14 Black players make strong showing in Nike Friendship Cup. Jessica Udovich and Rachel Ross were first team members and Lauren Mercuri was a second team member. The ’97 pool was extremely successful. First team’s only loss was to So Cal 2-3, then they beat No Cal 2-1, Colorado 5-1 and Oregon 2-0. More information can be found in our ODP selection section

WPFC Proudly Announces New PDL Junior Program

WPFC is excited to announce its new PDL Junior Program for the 2010-2011 season. The purpose of this program is to provide a structure and standards for PDL clubs wishing to work with young players that would typically play U10 in the fall season.  Therefore, the program is designed for children who are born on or after August 1, 2000.

WPFC and Harbor FC are the only PDL clubs within Tacoma Pierce County Junior Soccer Association that can offer this program.

Wade Webber, our Youth Development Director, will oversee the program to insure age appropriate training. Wade will work with the following WPFC age group coaches: Peter Voiles, Todd Murray, Luke-Helling Christy and Jason Baumgardt.  Please review all of the details after the jump.

Sounders Name Billy Crook as U16 Assistant Academy Coach

(March 26, 2010) - The Seattle Sounders FC today named WPFC’s Billy Crook as an assistant coach for the Sounders FC Youth Academy. Billy will be an assistant for the U16 boys team. Dick McCormick is the Manager/Head Coach of both the U16 and U18 academy teams.

"It’s exciting to add two quality coaches and two quality people to the Sounders FC Academy," said Darren Sawatzky, Sounders FC director of youth development. "Both Billy and Sean Henderson have strong roots in Sounders history. They are established in the youth soccer community and we look forward to the start of team training."

Billy played 18 years in the pro ranks, beginning with the original NASL Sounders in 1983. He played the bulk of his indoor soccer career with the Tacoma Stars (1984-93) and was a member of the CISL champion Seattle SeaDogs in 1997. We wish Billy the very best of success and look forward to continuing to work with him and the rest of the Sounders staff.
