After playing a total of 7 games they ended up finalists in their age group only losing their last game to Crossfires 99A team.  The tournament was a strong showing with two wins on Saturday (15 - 0 and 6 to 0), three wins on Sunday (11 to 0, 7 to 3, and 5 to 1 in the quarter finals).  On Monday morning, our boys won in the morning 3 to 1 in the semi finals and lost 5 to 2 in the finals. Our boys had fun and showed their strength in defense, speed in offense and ability in midfield to find the open man for the quick counter attack!  Congratulation to coach Joe Birklid and the boys on a successful tournament.

WPFC BU-14 White
Boys U14 Silver Finalist

The ’96 White cardiac crew’s tournament run through the Nike Crossfire Challenge was a wild rollercoaster ride.  The boys opened the tournament missing five players due to vacation and or injury, and spotted NW Nationals ’96 Red two goals in the first half, only to comeback in the second half to win 3-2. Day two of the tourney was like Déjàvu, with the team spotting both Tynecastle FC ’96 and Spokane Shadow ’96 Navy a goal apiece and having to comeback again in the second half to win 2-1. The Championship was a rematch of the Challenge Cup Championship against their arch rivals Eastside FC ’96 White. The boys fell behind from an Eastside counter attack but quickly regrouped and came back score two first half goals to take 2-1 lead into the half. The boys controlled 25 minutes of the second half only two give up two goals in the last five minutes of the match. Down 2-3 with 1:30 to play the tried to mount their final comeback of the tournament but it was not to be... four consecutive shots on goal, one hitting the crossbar and finally a last second header that looked to cross the line.  The AR signaling goals, only to have the Referee overrule him blowing the whistle ending the match. Congrats to coach Abdella and the boys!
