(April 2, 2010) - WPFC is proud to announce our 2010 Spring Junior Development Academy. All children between the ages of 7 and 10 are welcome to attend and have a great time learning the beautiful game. The Academy continues on Friday evening and registration is open.
OUR PROGRAM
Wade Webber, our Youth Development Director, has specially crafted each training session to include lots of touches on the ball in a fun and creative environment. Each session is designed to help players with the on-going development of their individual technical skills, field awareness and creativity on and off the ball in a fun, player-centric environment. Wade will oversee all training sessions and will be joined by other members of WPFC’s coaching staff.

When: All sessions run from 5:30 pm to 6:45 pm on the following evenings in April and focus on the following core activities:

Where: The training sessions will be held at our 20-acre Soccer Complex, conveniently located on River Road in Puyallup.
Cost: $75.00. The fee includes a WPFC Jr. Academy t-shirt.

WPFC JUNIOR ACADEMY LEADERSHIP
Wade Webber, Youth Development Director
Wade has over 35 years of involvement in soccer as a professional player, youth coach, fan in the stands and parent on the sidelines. Wade played professionally with the Seattle Sounders and also for the Miami Fusion and FC Dallas in the MLS. Wade has twice been voted high school coach of the year and won multiple league titles. Wade possesses a USSF National “B” License and has played soccer and found success at every level in the United States.
Greg Ion, Senior Girls Director
Greg holds a USSF “A” License and is an active committee member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. He played professionally with Leicester City in England and in both the NASL and MISL with the Tacoma Stars. Greg was a member of the Canada’s national team program from 1982 to 1988. He was selected to the 1986 FIFA World Cup team. As a member of the 1986 World Cup team Greg has been inducted to the British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame and most recently inducted to the Canadian Soccer Sports Hall of Fame.
Joe Birklid, U11 Black Head Coach
Joe coached WPFC’s U11 White and Navy teams this season. He holds a USSF National C License, played 4 years for the University of Washington and was voted a Pac-10 All-Academic Team in 2002, 2003 and 2004.
