(June 29, 2009) - Our BU-16 U.S. Soccer Development Academy team beat CASL Chelsea 1-0 today to win Group F of the USSDA playoffs. Earlier in the competition, the team beat Match Fit Chelsea 3-1 and tied Michigan’s Vardar 2-2. The team, along with the seven other group winners, will now travel to the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA to compete in the 2009 Finals Week which runs from July 10th through July 17th.
Thirty two teams in the age group qualified for the Playoffs based on the final standings in their conference as well as their record. The teams were then broken up into eight groups of four, with the top eight overall seeds being placed as the highest seed in each of the eight groups. The eight group winners will secure a berth to Finals Week.
