(June 21, 2009) - WPFC’s BU-95 Black and BU-93 Black are playing in the 2009 Far West Regionals in Lancaster, CA. We’re following them here, on Facebook and on Twitter as they make their way through the tournament. Today, both teams won their matches to advance to the final four of their respective age groups. WPFC 93 Black edged Oregon’s West Side Metros 3-2 while 95 Black topped Nevada’s Neusport 96 Green.

On Thursday, Jimmy’s BU-95 Black launched a furious comeback from 0-2 down to draw 3-3 with Utah’s La Roca Premier. The team’s 1-0-2 record in the preliminary round was good enough for them to advance to the quarterfinals on Friday, June 19th against Nevada’s Neusport 96 Green.

Our BU-93 Black drew 0-0 with New Mexico’s Rio Vista FC on Wednesday in their final preliminary round game, and the point was also enough to send them through to the final eight. The team finished the preliminary round with a 1-1-1.

The journey ended today for BU-95 Black as they fell 5-0. BU-93 Black suffered a similar fate with a 4-1 loss in the semifinals. Congratulations boys you have represented both your club and state well!
