From a WPFC fan who attended the match: this was U-11 soccer at its best. What a match from beginning to end! The game was a constant battle between two teams desperate for a state championship. The noise from the grandstands exploded from the first moments and didn’t die back for over 80 minutes of play. In the first ten minutes, Eastside F.C. attacked our goal with a vengeance. Our defense held strong, and our mighty boys of Black went to work. With true teamwork, the 96’ers attacked over and over with beautifully put together plays. Just couldn’t seem to get past that final defensive line. Neither team was backing down. As the time clock showed game over, a hard ground ball headed toward WPFC’s goal. With a diving stretch, Keeper Jake saved the game.
On to overtime. Towards the end of the 1st OT period, Tyler sped down the right sideline, dodged one player, got a pass off to Hassani in front of the net. After one quick touch, he got the shot off. The Eastside keeper jumped, the ball hit the crossbar and rebounded to the ground hard. Did it cross the line? The crowd went ballistic. They say yes. Ref says no. The game continued, and the battle intensified. 80 minutes of play and still no score. On to the Shootout. With style and composure, WPFC scored four in a row. That’s what it took. Great game boys. Washington State Champs!
