The ECNL is a national youth soccer league founded in 2009 for U-15 through U-18 girls’ teams for the purpose of providing the highest level of competition and the best developmental environment for American female youth soccer players, as well as an identification and development program, which will seek to include players in US Soccer’s National Teams.
Entering its fourth year, the 2012-13 ECNL season, the ECNL has again expanded, now to include the nation’s elite 74 female soccer clubs, an enhanced scouting and player identification structure, accessible club administrative, coaching, and scouting education opportunities, and an improved season structure that includes the U14 age group. Most importantly, the ECNL expanded the competition platform to approximately 30 games per team. By focusing solely on the elite competition within the ECNL, these clubs will be able to provide an improved environment with a better training-to-game ratio and more demanding and consistent competition. The 2012-13 ECNL season will continue to have three parts which provide the competitive platform for over 5,000 games to be played:
1- ECNL Conference and Cross-Conference Competitions;
2- ECNL National Event Competitions;
3- ECNL National Championships.

The National Championships ended WPFC’s inaugural ECNL season. 2010-2011 took our teams to some of the top showcase events in the nation. At these events our players were able to show off their abilities to college coaches from all across the country and also to scouts from national team programs who attend the competitions. In addition to the National Showcases we traveled to Northern California to play our league games against Mustang Soccer Club, Pleasanton Rage and San Juan. All four teams benefited tremendously from the experience as each team returned home and achieved their highest level of success at the state level. For example, the ‘92 and ‘95 teams both won their first state championship and advanced to the quarter-finals and semi-finals of regional championships in Boise, Idaho. The ‘93s and ‘94s also advanced further in state with the ‘93s making the semi-finals for the first time and the ‘94s reaching the finals.
For the 2011-12 ECNL season our teams will be involved in an expanded league season that will see Mustang, Rage, San Juan, De Anza, Irvine Stirkers, Eagles, and Slammers all visit the WPFC complex. The National Events are rapidly becoming the top recruiting vehicle for college programs. As our players strive to attend the elite universities in the nation it is important that they consistently compete against players with similar ambitions.
