Elite Clubs National League
An Introduction

The ECNL is a national youth soccer league founded in 2009 for U-15 through U-18 girls’ teams for the purpose of providing the highest level of competition and the best developmental environment for American female youth soccer players, as well as an identification and development program, which will seek to include players in US Soccer’s National Teams. The 2010-11 season is the ECNL’s second season, during which each U-15 through U-17 team will play in three of the five regular-season events, as well as four Regional ECNL games. Each U-18 team will play in two of the first four regular-season events, as well as four Regional ECNL games.

Each of the 52 member clubs in 2010-11 will have a team in the U-15 through U-17 age groups, while 50 teams will compete in the U-18 age group. In total, each team in the U-15 through U-17 age groups will play 13 regular-season games and three postseason games, and each team in the U-18 age group will play 10 regular-season games with the top eight teams advancing to the ECNL National Championship.

Inaugural ECNL season

WPFC wraps up their inaugural ECNL season
Building blocks laid for a strong foundation

Washington Premier F.C.s 1993, 1994 and 1995 teams recently finished their Elite Clubs National League season by attending the ECNL National Championships held in Denver, CO over July 14-16th. The club ended the weekend of games with a 4-4-1record led by the ’94s who finished with an unbeaten mark of 2-1-0.

’93’s – 1-2-0, win over FC Milwaukee and ties with FC Dallas and Bethesda
’94’s – 2-1-0, wins over West Coast FC and FC Bucks and a tie with FC Milwaukee
’95’s – 1-1-1, win over Irvine Strikers and a tie with Freestate Soccer

The National Championships ended WPFC’s inaugural ECNL season. 2010-2011 took our teams to some of the top showcase events in the nation. At these events our players were able to show off their abilities to college coaches from all across the country and also to scouts from national team programs who attend the competitions. In addition to the National Showcases we traveled to Northern California to play our league games against Mustang Soccer Club, Pleasanton Rage and San Juan.  All four teams benefited tremendously from the experience as each team returned home and achieved their highest level of success at the state level. For example, the ‘92 and ‘95 teams both won their first state championship and advanced to the quarter-finals and semi-finals of regional championships in Boise, Idaho. The ‘93s and ‘94s also advanced further in state with the ‘93s making the semi-finals for the first time and the ‘94s reaching the finals.

For the 2011-12 ECNL season our teams will be involved in an expanded league season that will see Mustang, Rage, San Juan, De Anza, Irvine Stirkers, Eagles, and Slammers all visit the WPFC complex. The National Events are rapidly becoming the top recruiting vehicle for college programs. As our players strive to attend the elite universities in the nation it is important that they consistently compete against players with similar ambitions. If you would like more information about the ECNL please visit their site at www.eliteclubsnationalleague.com.
