Our GU-12 White played in the 1st Annual Athena Invitational, an indoor soccer tournament with a cause, at the Mt. Rainier Sports and Fitness Club in Enumclaw on January 5th and 6th. The two-day event was designed as a warm-up for the teams as they prepare for State Cup. But, more importantly, the tournament provided the girls with an opportunity to help researchers find a cure for women’s cancer.
The girls played 3 games and achieved a win and a tie with the following results: WPFC 8 vs. South Hill Revolution 3; WPFC 8 vs. FC Marauders Blue 8; and WPFC 7 vs Dos Red 8. The tournament raised $6,430.00 for The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. The players exemplified the Athena Goddess and created a competitive attitude towards giving, making a difference...one goal at a time!
