What a difference one year makes! Last year at this time our BU-14 White team was in a true battle to stave off relegation and remain in Division 2. Well, fast forward to this year and this same team, now BU-15 White, is the little team that could! Many of you have already read about their accomplishments during the summer months such as going 5 for 5 in tournament play. Now, as a result of competition this past weekend, they have successfully locked up promotion to Division 1 for next year's league play.

With two games to play the only real question that remains is whether they finish first or second because promotion is a done deal! We caught up with Coach Henry Robicheau to ask a couple of questions:

Question: When the team was selected, did you envision them having this level of success?"

Coach Henry: Well, to be honest, no. I knew we would be better than last year, but just how good was the million dollar question. A funny fact is that I guaranteed the Club a P-2 team with no relegation battle this year. That alone would have been an improvement.

Question: What have the boys learned over the course of the season?

Coach Henry: "I still think that class is in session. I feel they always need to be working to improve. I believe they have learned how to win, how to have faith in your teammate and play as a team. They have learned that they can win a 1-0 match, and have faith in the closing minutes that the game is in hand and they have the gamesmanship required to preserve the win. They believe in each other, I guess that's what they have learned. Coach Robicheau went on to say, "This team is a fun team to be around, they are infectious with attitude. The starting line has changed as the players have changed over the course of the year, yet all the players continue to show up for training and work hard to get better. Tom Owen and I, as coaches, are the lucky ones to be able to coach such a fun group of players.

What this means for the Club and members is that WPFC will be able to field a USSF Academy team for next year and yet also provide a WSYSA Division 1 state league team. This is just great news for all of our players at this age group!
