(2011) - Seattle Pacific midfielder Kelsey Jenkins has been selected the 2011 Great Northwest AthleticConference Women’s Soccer Player-of-the-Year. Jenkins scored four goals and had nine assists this fall in leading Seattle Pacific to a 16-2 record and its ninth consecutive NCAA Division II playoff berth.
Also winning special awards were Western Oregon midfielder Lindsay Bauman, Seattle Pacific midfielder Riley Dopps and Saint Martin’s forward Ashley Richardson. Bauman, who led Western Oregon in scoring with 10 points (3 goals, 4 assists) was voted the GNAC Newcomer-of-the-Year.
Dopps, who scored five goals including three game-winners, and Richardson who led the Saints with six points (2 goals, 2 assists) shared the GNAC Freshman-of-the-Year award.
Three players – Jenkins, Bauman and Seattle Pacific forward Megan Lindsay - were unanimous selections. Six players, including Western Washington defender Alicia Patten who was named to the first team for the third consecutive year, were repeat selections.
Lindsay and Seattle Pacific forward Kellie Zakrzewski were selected to the first team last year, while Jenkins, Sawyer, and Montana State Billings forward Jaucelyn Richter were first team selections in 2009.
