(October 26, 2009) - Twenty NCAA men’s and women’s soccer student-athletes who excel both on and off the field were tabbed as finalists for the 2009 Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award in the two soccer divisions. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – classroom, character, community and competition. We’re very proud to say that former FC Royal, Elizabeth Betterbed, is among the finalists.
Elizabeth has ranked No. 1 in class at the U.S. Military Academy since her freshman year and carries a 4.235 GPA. She heads into her final year ranked No. 1 overall in class; No. 2 academic, No. 3 military and No. 8 physical. She is a two-time CoSIDA/ESPN District I academic selection and a 2008 CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic first team pick. Click here to read her full profile.
Fan balloting is available on the award’s official Web site here, as well as through text messaging. Fans can text GOAL to 74567 to vote for women’s finalists. These votes will be combined with votes from coaches and media to determine the recipient of the award. So, head over to the website and give Elizabeth your support.
